Women's Squash Sweeps Dartmouth, Prepares For Showdown With ...

The Princeton women's squash team got the ideal preparation for Sunday's home showdown with reigning national champion Harvard. The Tigers moved to 4-0 on the season, 1-0 in Ivy League play, with a 9-0 sweep of the Dartmouth Big Green.

Princeton won all nine individual matches by 3-0 scores, including the Ivy League debuts for freshmen Rachel Leizman and Tara Harrington. Leizman, who helped Princeton take control in the opening shift, defeated Sarah Loucks 11-4, 11-2, 11-9 at the No. 4 spot; Harrington helped the Tigers close the match with a hard-fought 11-4, 11-5, 11-9 victory.

Princeton had representatives from every class on the floor, including senior Julie Cerullo, who defeated Corey Schafer 11-6, 11-2, 11-3 at the No. 1 spot. Sophomore Hallie Dewey had the most dominant performance of the day, dropping only four points in her win at the No. 8 spot.

While Princeton took care of business at home, it couldn't have been disappointed to see some drama at the Ringe Squash Courts at Penn. The top-ranked Crimson defeated fifth-ranked Penn 6-3, though three matches went the distance, while another three went four games. Last year, Harvard defeated Princeton 5-4 at home en route to the Ivy League title, though Princeton did have two match balls during the dramatic afternoon.

Sunday will be the first appearance at Jadwin by Harvard sophomore Amanda Sobhy, the former Junior World champion and reigning CSA national champion. Sobhy won 3-0 over Penn's Nabilla Ariffin, and she will take on Cerullo on the main court Sunday.

Sunday's match will begin at noon and will be played in a three-shift format, meaning matches 3, 6, and 9 will be played first. Those will be followed by 2, 5, and 8, and then matches 1, 4, 7 will conclude the day. All courts will be live streamed on GoPrincetonTigers.TV.
